This piece was inspired from chapter 1 of A.A. Milne's "Winnie The Pooh" book.
How did this painting come about? Well....a publisher asked me to illustrate the book. I read the book, created a story board, and got to work. But something happened early in the project and they cancelled it when I was finishing up this 2nd illustration. In the original sketch for this piece, I had some bees above, and Christopher Robin below (because Winnie was on a mission to get some honey). I picked a different perspective than the book. However, after the cancellation, I changed this piece to be just a bear going for a balloon ride and created a quiet forest below with a stream passing through. Hope you enjoy!
Hello. I put my thoughts down on canvas with acrylic paint. Some have described my art as 'storybook style', I've heard others say 'dreamlike'. I myself consider it a sort of contemporary whimsy of color and imagination. You can find more good stuff about me through my website, or friend me on facebook @ facebook/cindythorntonart. All the new stuff gets posted there first. Thanks for stopping by! -Cindy @ www.cindythornton.com
